About Me

Welcome to Music Class. I believe all students are musical by nature, and have tremendous potential to learn and enjoy music. Research shows that music helps students develop higher-order skills and increases their desire to learn. It is my goal to help students become more enlightened and truly alive through a balanced, comprehensive course of study.

LET'S WRAP IT UP!

Well, choir, it's time to pull all your hard work together. You will create your very own website to share your journey with the world. Remember, it must be TOP NOTCH (meaning it has my approval), as well as the Waiver and Release, signed by your parent/legal guardian, before you may publish your site. Add "appropriate" pictures, a slide show, video - everything that will make your site come alive. You will want others to feel your excitement as they travel vicariously through your "virtual experience". Go to " Weebly.com " to create your site. You must follow this plan:

HOME PAGE - Your personal introduction. It will include your picture and a written and audio introduction.

OVERTURE - Introduction to Musical Theatre ( pp. 342 - 345 in our textbook)

ACT I - Your writings - Les Miserables, West Side Story, Research a Musical, Black History Report

ACT II - Community Service - Christmas Concert, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service, Black History "Fact of the Day

ACT III - Supplemental Classes & Experiences - Workshop with playwright, Andre Jones; American Musical Theater Class at the Kimmel Center, the Alfie Polite Jazz Concert; and the Live Performance of West Side Story at the Academy of Music.

FINALE - "Going Under" - video and written reflections. What was your part in this production?
